Finding a good coach, consultant, mentor

How do you find a good coach, consultant, and/or mentor? There are some truly great coaches, consultants, and mentors out there to support you on your journey. There are also those who don’t deliver on their promises. So how do you find a good one?

  1. Results. Jim Stovall said, “Only take advice from people who already have what you want.” Do you want to open a family-based personal care home? Then find someone who has successfully owned and operated a family-based personal care home.
  2. Empathy. Find someone who can relate to where you are. What’s their story? Why are they in this business? Where do you see reflections of yourself in their story?
  3. Legacy. Measure a coach, consultant and/or mentor by the results their clients create. Talk to their clients. How valuable was their experience with this person? Ask them, “What would make someone a good fit for this coach, consulting, or mentor?” And then see where you see yourself in their response.

To help you find a good one, there’s a workbook you can use to help you evaluate coaches, consultants, and mentors. It’s free, no strings attached at https://ElderCareSolutionsGroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Coach-Consultant-and-Mentor-Evaluation-Guide.pdf
