Placing our mom in a facility was the hardest decision our family had to make.
Because of her confusion and dementia, we had to find her a safe place to be. The best we could do, was find a facility that had a limit of 16 patients. Our hopes were that mom would adjust and be taken care of with dignity. She went in walking, talking, and strong willed. With a little assistance, she was able to do her own dressing and bathroom visits. Ten months later, she could not walk on her own, she ate very little, she talked very little, and she was dependent on others for all her needs.
After much thought and consideration of how mom deteriorated so fast, we decided to move mom to The Home at Baer Creek in Seguin. Due to mom’s confusion and state of health, we were wary of moving her, however this care home has exceeded our expectations. So many things that my family and I wanted for our mother have been achieved within a week.
The family that oversees our mom’s care is wonderful, compassionate, patient, loving, and knowledgeable. They have gone above and beyond our expectations. The home is clean and well maintained. It has a nice, comfortable, homey feeling and the food is made with love. Mom’s needs are met with kindness and gentleness. Our mom is walking more, eating more, been more active, and alert. She is content and happy. This is all we wanted for our mom. Many thanks to this family for the caring and love that they extend to help the elderly.
Our prayers have been answered and we will forever be grateful.
